Watch every reservoir, river, and coastline — without installing a single sensor.
ESA Copernicus Sentinel-2 and Sentinel-3 imagery, processed every six hours, into the same dashboard as your ground sensors.
The problem
You can't put a probe in every catchment, basin, and harbour. The places where contamination is most likely to start — runoff zones, agricultural drainage, algal bloom hotspots — are usually the places without instrumentation.
How WaterTwin solves it
- Sentinel-2 water-quality indices: chlorophyll, turbidity, clarity. 10–20 metre resolution. Five-day revisit. Pulled and processed every six hours.
- Sentinel-3 sea-surface temperature: daily SST coverage for coastal intakes, harbours, and large lakes.
- Automated thresholds: define what "concerning" looks like (e.g., chlorophyll > 30 mg/m³ over a defined polygon) and the platform raises an alarm with the same routing as any ground-sensor alert.
- True-colour imagery alongside the indices, so you can visually confirm before you act.
- Cross-validation with field sensors: when both agree, your confidence in the reading is higher than either alone.
How it works
- The platform queries the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem for the latest imagery covering your areas of interest.
- A processing pipeline computes water-quality indices and pushes the results into the same telemetry stream as ground sensors.
- Operators see satellite readings on the standard dashboards. The rules engine treats them as just another signal.
Where this changes the game
- Regulatory monitoring without the cost of full sensor coverage.
- Catchment-wide visibility for utilities responsible for source water quality.
- Early warning for algal blooms, agricultural runoff events, and storm impacts.
Specs
- Data sources: ESA Copernicus Sentinel-2 L2A, Sentinel-3 SLSTR.
- Cadence: every 6 hours.
- Spatial resolution: 10–20 metres (S2), 1 km (S3 SLSTR).
- Indices computed: chlorophyll, turbidity, clarity, sea-surface temperature.
- Native integration with the platform's alarm rules engine.
